Cassidy Carson Again

Welcome back to the Nevada Author Network where we highlight another writer in the Sierra Arts Literary Community. In this edition, we return to the fascinating journey of Cassidy Carson, a retired senior archivist turned author, as she shares her insights on her latest novel, Battle Born Bride. Set against the backdrop of 1860s Carson City, Nevada, this historical romance intertwines fact with fiction, exploring a pivotal time in American history.

Cassidy’s transition from the Nevada State Archives to the literary world was inspired by her years of research and dedication to preserving history. “It feels like it’s been a long time in coming because I first got the idea for the book probably a decade ago,” she reflects. The novel’s plot is rooted in the very foundations of Nevada’s statehood, allowing readers to experience the tumultuous events that shaped the region.

At the core of Cassidy’s story is the character of Sarah Jane Avery, a young woman whose journey to Nevada was unexpected. Cassidy shares, “There are little bits and pieces of me in her, but she is definitely a separate character.” The intertwining of historical figures, like Mark Twain, adds depth and authenticity to her narrative.
